Religious leaders give Easter Benediction

(Apr14, 2012, (Addis Ababa))--Religious leaders of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church (EOC), Ethiopian Catholic Church (EOC), the Evangelical Church Mekane-Yesus (ECMY) and the Evangelical Churches Fellowship of Ethiopia (ECFE) conveyed massages to the faithful in connection with Ethiopian Easter due to be celebrated on Sunday.

In his Easter message, Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Abune Paulos called on the Ethiopian Orthodox faithful to celebrating the holiday by sharing with people in need.

Archbishop of the Ethiopian Catholic Church, Abune Birhaneyesus Surafel called on Christians to maintain Ethiopia’s culture of helping each other when celebrating Easter.Abune Birhaneyesus said his church is mourning on the death and harassment on Ethiopians who illegal travel to other countries.

The church would work closely with the government and other stakeholders to raise the awareness of the public and to address the issues.The Ethiopian Evangelical Church Reverend Wakseyoum Edossa on his message said the faithful need to observe Easter by helping out orphaned ,bed-ridden citizens and others in need.
