Facebook shuts 20 pages claiming to be Ethiopian broadcaster

(Nov 21, (abc))--A major Ethiopian broadcaster says Facebook has shut 20 pages that falsely used its name. Fana Broadcasting Corporate's announcement comes as Ethiopians complain that fake news reports in recent months have contributed to mass violence and deaths in some parts of the country.

BBC's new broadcasts to the Horn of Africa. Oromo, Amharic, Tigrinya

(Nov 21, 2016, (LONDON))--The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) said on Wednesday it plans to broadcast 11 languages as part of what it describes as its biggest expansion since the 1940s. BBC World Service said it plans to broadcast in four more Indian languages.

BBC seeks Ethiopia and Eritrea service

(Sep 06, 2015, (BBC))--The BBC is proposing to introduce a news service for Eritrea and Ethiopia on medium- and short-wave radio. In addition to Africa, the BBC has proposed expanding services in other countries, like Russia and North Korea.

Ethiopia launches 4G mobile service in the capital

(Mar 21, 2015, ADDIS ABABA (Reuters))--Ethiopia's state-run telecoms monopoly has launched a fourth generation (4G) mobile service in the capital Addis Ababa, aiming to catch up with the high-speed communications available in some east African neighbours such as Kenya and Uganda.
