An Ethiopian, 28, who accidently ran over and killed a 22-year-old British Royal Navy sailor who was crossing Sheikh Zayed Road, is placed under detention, according to Dubai's Chief Traffic Prosecutor.
The woman is held partly responsible for running over the sailor, 'Gulf News' quoted Chief Traffic Prosecutor Salah Bu Farousha, head of Traffic Public Prosecution, as saying.
The accident happened at the Defence Roundabout in the direction of World Trade Centre. Despite the metal fences to prevent pedestrians fom crossing, the victim crossed over and when he reached the fast lane the woman ran over him. He succumbed on the spot.
The victim is partly responsible for his death, Bu Farousha added.
