Many agree for additional action against the Eritrean government, Meles

(July 04, 2011, Addis Ababa)--Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said many parties realize that the government of Eritrea has been jeopardizing the peace of East African region and hence push for additional international action to be taken against it.

Meles disclosed in an interview with the Ethiopian Radio and Television Agency (ERTA) on Saturday, the anti-peace nature of the Eritrean government is being proved with tangible evidences.

He noted that the United Nations Security Council had formed a committee to monitor the activity of terrorists and transfer of arms to support the security of Somalia.

According to Meles, the committee has presented a 400 page report on the issue to the UN Security Council. He said the Eritrean government’s strategy of destabilizing East Africa is proved with tangible evidences.

The Primer said, based on the report, many parties agree for an additional action to be taken against the Eritrean government.

It is to be noted that Inter Governmental Authority for Development (IGAD) council of ministers, in its 39th meeting in Equatorial Guinea had asked for additional sanction against the Eritrean government.

The council called up on the international community to take additional action since the Eritrean government uses the remittance money and income from export of minerals to destabilize East African Region.
