Japanese Committee for Africa-Japan Relations' Delegation Holds Talks with Ethiopian Officials

Addis Ababa, March 7, 2011 (Addis Ababa) - The Chairman of the Committee for Africa-Japan Relations expressed its readiness to extend support to the installation railway line in Ethiopia.

The Chairman, Sekiwayama Mamoru made the statement while holding talks along with other delegates here on Monday with executives of the Ministries of Trade and Industry.

Speaking on the occasion, Industry Minister, Mekonnen Manyazewal stressed the need that Japan need to strengthen its support to Ethiopia as it has best experiences in the field.

The Minister stressed the need that Japan should transfer the best practices and know-how it attained in the transport sector to Ethiopia.

He recalled that the Japanese government has been extending support to Ethiopia to its human resource development, education, road and health development activities, he said

The visit of executives of Japanese companies in Ethiopia has enabled to observe the investment potential Ethiopia has.

The trend in the growth of trade and investment ties between Ethiopia and Japan would have its contribution to the country's Growth and Transformation Plan.

He called on the Japanese government to support Ethiopia to help it achieve the goals of the Growth and Transformation Plan in particular.

Mamoru said on his part that in addition to the support in which his country has been extending, Japan will also give support Ethiopia's renewable energy resources development.

He also mentioned that Ethiopia has a good potential of investment and his country would do everything possible to help Ethiopia lure direct investment flow.
