Gold Become Ethiopia’s 2nd Biggest Source of Export Revenue: Data

Ababa Ababa, February 21, 2011 (Addis Ababa, ENA)) - Gold overtook oilseeds in terms of generating the largest amount of foreign currency for the nation, according to a recent data.

Gold has became Ethiopia’s 2nd largest source export revenue after coffee constituting for 179.2 million US dollars of the over 1.14 billion US dollars total export revenue the country got in the first half of this Ethiopian fiscal year.

According to this year’s 6-month export performance data obtained from the of Trade, oilseeds lost its place gold generating 102.8 million USD during the exported period and becoming in 4th place.

Live animals stood in 5th place enabling the nation to obtain 76.6 million USD followed by flower accounting for 76.5 million USD, the data indicates.

Coffee has continued to dwarf the rest of export products by bringing 320.million USD for the nation during the reported period.
