Ethiopia appoints Gebermedhin Haile as interim national football team coach

(May 12, 2013, (CCTV))--Ethiopia Football Federation has appointed local club coach, Gebremedhin Haile as national team coach for a six-month period. The position fell vacant after the EFF terminated Yohannes Sahle's contract a few weeks ago.

Haile's appointment comes with just three weeks to the country's next cup of nations qualifier against Lesotho. Ethiopia are second in group J with five points in a group which includes Algeria and Seychelles as well.

The team will need to win the match against Lesotho and also beat Seychelles in September to keep hope alive of qualifying. Only group winners get the automatic ticket with second place finishers hoping they can earn one of the two best losers tickets in the race to Gabon 2017.
