(October 7, 2011, Addis Ababa, ERTA)--Prime Minister Meles Zenawi held talks on Friday with Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan on bilateral, regional and continental issues.
Prime Minister Meles told journalists after the discussions that the two countries have been working together in regional, continental and international forums for the benefit of the continent.
He said the two countries have reached agreement to further strengthen bilateral relations particularly in trade, investment and political sectors.
The Premier expressed gratitude to Nigeria and Gabon for their efforts to make the UN Security Council consider the activities of the Eritrean government to dismantle the peace and security of the region.
President Jonathan for his part said his discussions with Prime Minister Meles were focused on the current situation in Somalia and Sudan, the activities of the Eritrean government and the upcoming AU Summit.
He said an agreement has been reached between the two sides to further enhance their existing partnership to work for the benefit of the continent.
The President also lauded the contributions Prime Minister Meles has made representing Africa at international forums.
