Ethiopian to buy four 777Fs

(05-Sep-2011, Air Cargo News)-- WITHIN the coming weeks Ethiopian Airlines will purchase four 777Fs from Boeing. The carrier is rapidly expanding its fleet following accelerating demand.

During the 2010-2011 fiscal year Ethiopian cargo traffic grew by 20 per cent to 160,000 metric tonnes against the previous year thanks to a surge in horticulture and meat exports.

Recently the carrier signed a 10-year lease agreement with GE Capital Aviation Services for two 777 aircraft to be delivered in September next year.

Prior to the new arrivals Ethiopian has six freighter aircraft, comprising the largest cargo fleet in Africa.
