(Wednesday, September 7, 2011, CAIRO)--Egypt’s new Ambassador to Ethiopia Mohamed Edris said that Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi’s visit to Egypt, due on September 17, will mark a new phase in Egyptian-Ethiopian ties.

"Zenawi’s visit will be preceded by a two-day meeting of the Egyptian-Ethiopian Joint Committee.
Trade, investment, scientific research, health and joint ventures will be discussed in the meeting," said Edris, who will travel to Addis Ababa Friday after being appointed as the new Ambassador of Egypt.

The Ambassador also said that he will also check up on the implementation of an agreement reached earlier this summer between Prime Minister Essam Sharaf and the Ethiopian authorities for forming a tripartite committee between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia to assess the potential impact of Ethiopia's Nahda Dam on the water quotas of the other Nile Basin countries.
