UK will increase dev’t aid to Ethiopia: UK Foreign Secretary

(July 8, 2011 (Addis Ababa, ena) - The British Foreign Secretary, William Hague said his government would increase its development aid as Ethiopia has been channeling their support to proper target.

While discussing with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, Hailemariam Dessalegn here on Friday the secretary said he confirmed that Ethiopia is using UK development aid for the desired target.

He said his government would give support to UK investors to enable them invest in Ethiopia.

The secretary said UK is willing to work closely with Ethiopia and Sudan towards ensuring peace in the region. UK is interested to provide support to Ethiopia’s mission in Sudan.

He said UK would work closely with UN Security Council for implementation of IGAD's resolution of sanction on Eritrean government.

Hailemariam on his part said the overall relations with UK hit high point and should further be strengthened.

The Deputy PM said Ethiopia is striving to establish a stable Somali government with peace loving forces and to ensure lasting peace in that country.
