Ethiopia revealing Eritrean gov’t disruptive acts to int’l community: Ministry

Addis Ababa, April 6, 2011 (Addis Ababa, ENA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Ethiopia is revealing the anti-peace and destabilizing act of the Eritrean government to the international community.

The ministry presented its mid-term performance report to Foreign, Defense and Security Affairs Standing Committee of the House of Peoples Representatives here on Wednesday.

On the occasion, Deputy PM and FM Hailemariam Dessalegn said government briefed the mutinous acts of the Eritrean government to European and Middle East countries ambassadors and diplomats.

He said government has exerted effort for the effect of the sanction by the UN Security Council by clearly showing Eritrea’s government destabilizing acts in providing training and artillery support for terrorists.

The Deputy PM said the ministry briefed various offices on Ethio-Eritrean conflict and the current situation of the case.

He said the ministry presented over all efforts of IGAD in ensuring peace and stability in Somalia and decision by the African Heads of State and Government to the UK government.

Hailemariam told the House Ethiopia’s effort to ensure peace and stability in Somalia and the relation between Ethiopia and Somali land trade relations.

The Deputy PM outlined bilateral relations, image build national consensus with Diaspora, strengthening the diplomatic centers and protecting the rights of citizens as areas of activities carried out during the reported period.

The committee on its part said the ministry is doing its level best to forge its cooperation with neighboring countries with safeguarding the national interest.

The committee urged the ministry to continue disposing the evil acts of the Eritrean government to the international community.

The committee lauded the activities of the ministry in enhancing bilateral relations and agreements with countries.

The committee has also commended the over all activities of the ministry towards enhancing Ethiopia’s recognition in the UN.
