Ethio-Austria program earmarks 40 mln Birr for dev’t activities

Gondar, March 23, 2011 (Gondar) -Ethio-Austria Development and Cooperation Program said it has earmarked 40 million Birr to undertake development projects in North Gondar Zone of Amhara State.

Opening a day-long reviewing workshop on the program at Gondar town on Monday Natural Resources Development and Utilization Program Coordinator, Teshome Mulu said the projects will be undertaken in 19 selected woredas and two national parks.

He said the fund will be used to develop integrated basin livestock resources development, income generating program and boost community-based tourism, among others.

Similar development activities were undertaken at a cost of over 35 million Birr last year, he said,

The program has budgeted 125 million Birr for five years and would benefit over 50,000 local residents, according to the coordinator.
