Delivery of 10,000 tons of Sorghum to Ethiopia as Part of the President Grant

Khartoum, March 6 (SUNA) - The Ministry of Finance and National Economy delivered to the Ethiopian government 10,000 tons of Sorghum as another batch of President Al-Bashir grant to the Ethiopian people to alleviate the impact of drought and desertification that hit their country recently
The delivery was made through the Strategic Stock's grain silos in Gadarif town in eastern Sudan during a celebration organized by the Ministry and the World Food Program (WFP)

Last year the Ethiopian government received 5,000 tons out of the total grant which amounted to 20,000 tons

The Minister of Finance in Gaddarif State affirmed that the state would do its best to maintain food security for the Sudan and the neighboring countries using its surplus production this year indicating readiness to deliver the last batch of the grant before the rainy season

The Ethiopian Deputy State Minister for Agriculture Mathios Hondi hailed the Sudanese people for their support particularly president Al-Bashir grant explaining that the first batch of 500,000 tons has helped in covering the needs of the affected people

He said the Sudan has been offering assistance and cooperating with his country in the various fields explaining that the last consignment would benefit 2 million persons

Representative of the Ministry of Finance and National Economy cum the Strategic Stock Abd Alla Ibrahim said the grant came within the framework of consolidation of the bilateral relations

WFP representative Fatima Hassan Osman said the program has secured the sacks which were used for packaging
