Guests celebrate Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie's stay at Fairfield House in Newbridge

(Mar 15, 2013, (This is Bath))--Fairfield House in Newbridge was filled with people on Saturday commemorating its famous former owner, Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie.

The event was organised by Bath Spa University student, Sarah Kanan, who specialised in Selassie's connection to the area as part of her degree in the study of religions.

Around 35 people attended, enjoying poetry, art and readings about Selassie's life and his links to Bath, where he lived in Fairfield House from 1936 until 1941 while in exile. Sarah, 20, said: " I hope that guests have taken away that Fairfield House is important." Read more from This is Bath »
