Police: Hit and Run Victim, Body Found in Creek Identified

(Sept. 07, 2012,Herndon Patch)--Police identify body as Fitsum Abrha Gebretatios, husband of the hit and run victim, Simret Tekle Woldetensae.  A man found dead in a creek late Wednesday afternoon near the scene of a hit and run accident has been identified as 32-year-old Fitsum Abrha Gebretatios, Herndon Police said Thursday.  An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death.

It is unclear at this time how Gebretatios may have been connected to a hit and run accident that killed his wife shortly after midnight on Wednesday. Simret Tekle Woldetensae, 35, was pronounced dead after police discovered her body in a parking lot on the 600 block of Center Street. Nearby, a number of cars had been damaged when a 2007 black Toyota Camry smashed into the line of parked cars.

Police say Gebretatios owned that black Camry, but could not say if he was driving at the time of the hit and run. Gebretatio's car is being processed for evidence. Read more from Herndon Patch »
