(July 17 2012, Press TV)--The Ethiopian government has denied rumors about Prime Minister Meles Zenawi’s health, saying that he is not suffering from any serious malady.
“There is no serious illness at all.It’s minor only,” Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Hailemariam Desalegn said on Monday in Addis Ababa, Bloomberg reported. He added, “As any human being, he has to get medication and he’ll be coming back soon.”
Meles didn’t attend the African Union (AU) summit, which closed late on Monday in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. At the opening of the summit on Saturday, Benin's president and current AU chairman Thomas Boni Yayi said that the "unusual absence… cannot go unnoticed, because we know that Mr. Meles is full of dynamism and leadership in our meetings.” Read more from Press TV »
