(04 November 2011, CAIRO)--Egypt Air launched a daily flight between Cairo and the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on October 31. Flights between the two capitals previously ran only five days a week.
Egypt Air halted its flight to Addis Ababa in 1995, however since then the number of flights between Cairo and Ethiopia has grown steadily.
Relations between Egypt and Ethiopia have become tense as Ethiopia and Egypt vy for rights to the shared waters of the Nile River.
According to Egyptian ambassador to Ethiopia, Mohammed Edress, an increase in travel between the two countries may help to ease tensions and enhance relations.
Increased travel can not only help garner high level political visits, but is also a multi-track diplomatic method of fostering cooperation and dialogue in various sectors, said the ambassador.
