(April 29, 2011, Arab News, JEDDAH)--Two Ethiopian nationals in their 20s were recently arrested in northern Jeddah on suspicion of robbing SR104,000 from a bank customer just after he withdrew the money, police said.
“The two suspects wearing tracksuits approached the victim as he was leaving the bank. They grabbed the bag off him and ran away to their car parked inside an alley,” said police spokesman First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq.
Al-Bouq said the victim, 30-year-old Saudi employee, was caught by surprise, as he thought the suspects were jogging.
The two suspects were arrested when a local resident contacted police after seeing one of them driving in the area. The money was also recovered in full.
“After the suspect was arrested, he denied any involvement in any crime. However, he admitted his part in the robbery later and led police investigators to his accomplice who was also arrested and put in jail,” said Al-Bouq.
