(March 13, 2011 (Addis Ababa, ENA)--A group of journalists drawn from government and the private media visited projects undertaken by the government of Japan Ethiopia from March 9-11, 2011.
The group visited various development activities carried out by the Japan Embassy in Addis Ababa and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) with in the environs of Addis Ababa City and Adama Town.
Head of Press and Cultural Division with the Embassy, Hikari Sunny Nishimoto on the occasion said the projects are in the areas of poverty reduction and industrialization.
Maru Metal Industry, ZENITH Gebs-Eshet Plc which were visited by the journalists are among the industrial sectors that receive technical assistance from Japanese Embassy and JICA.
The Japan consultants in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry have been applying Kaizen system, which literally means “improvement” with in the stated companies.
Managers of the two companies on the occasion said they began applying the Kaizen system since the last three months and are benefiting from it.
During its visit, the group was also briefed on the over all activities of the Ho! ManaBu and Farmers Research Group (FRG) which are engaged in education development and poverty reduction activities respectively by pertinent bodies.
Ho! ManaBu, a Japanese word which means “to learn”, is a technical cooperation project between Oromia Education Bureau and JICA.
The project aims to improve school management through collaboration among schools, community members, cluster resource center and local educational administrations.
