Addis Ababa, March 12, 2011 (Mekele) - The African Union (AU) announced over the weekend the composition of Ad-hoc High Level Committee on Libya, AU press statement said.
Following consultations undertaken by the Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union (AU, Jean Ping, in pursuance of the communiqué on the situation in Libya adopted by 266th meeting of the AU Peace and Security Council (PSC) held in Addis Ababa, on March 10, 2011, the AU Ad-hoc High Level Committee on Libya will be composed of the Heads of state of five Africa countries.
They are the heads of state of Mauritania, Republic of Congo, Mali, South Africa and Uganda, the statement said.
The Chairperson of the AU Commission is also a member of the Committee.
The Ad-hoc High Level Committee was set up by the PSC meeting to engage with all parties in Libya, facilitate an inclusive dialogue among them, and engage AU partners, as part of the overall efforts, for the speedy resolution of the crisis in Libya, according to the statement.
