JEDDAH: A 27-year-old Arab woman was arrested recently on suspicion of stealing another woman’s credit card and charging the victim's account more than SR100,000. The suspect was also charged with falsifying her iqama.
Police launched an investigation after the victim contacted them regarding unauthorized charges to her account.Police said the victim suspected the woman in question who at the beginning denied any wrongdoing but later admitted her crimes.
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old Ethiopian overstayer was arrested in Al-Jamea district on suspicion of stealing SR15,000 from a 57-year-old Saudi.
Police said the incident occurred Tuesday evening when the suspect pick-pocketed the amount and fled the area only to be captured later. The money was recovered.
Also, two former local company employees in their 30s were arrested in Al-Hamra district on suspicion of stealing five laptops worth more than SR20,000 from the company.
The company’s agent, a 25-year-old Saudi, called the police to report the devices missing.
In another incident, a 43-year-old Saudi national and an Ethiopian couple were arrested in Al-Basateen neighborhood on suspicion of making, selling and distributing alcohol.
“The suspects used to drive a rented Chevrolet Aveo for their operations,” said police spokesman Col. Misfer Al-Juaid.
