The capital of Ethiopia, Addis-Ababa, is hosting the African Union summit, which gathered the heads of more than 30 African states, ITAR-TASS reports.
The forum’s agenda includes a referendum on the independence of Southern Sudan, Somalia’s issues and the situation in Tunisia and Egypt. The main issue is the electoral crisis in Cote d'Ivoire, where the current president Laurent Gbagbo and his main opponent Alassane Ouattara both declared their victories art recent presidential election.
The UN’s Secretary General Ban Ki-moon who is also taking part in the summit has urged the African leaders to take urgent steps to solve the conflict.
