Family: Slain Alexandria Ethiopian woman kept to herself

(July 08, 2014, (ALEXANDRIA, Va.))--Alexandria police are saying very little about the murder of a 43-year-old woman found dead inside her home on the 4th of July. Aside from calling it a homicide and asking for help, police have said nothing else -- not even how she died.

Police are not saying how Asabech Abayneh was killed inside the apartment she shared with her sister in the west end of the city. But whoever killed the 43-year-old was so quiet, her sister, who was sleeping in another room, never heard a thing.

The victim's sister found Abayneh dead in the apartment they shared. Police say there was no forced entry and no sign of a struggle. She lived in a one-bedroom apartment in a building in the 5600 block of Derby Court. According to family members, her sister had the bedroom and Abayneh slept in another part of the apartment.

Police say at some point, someone slipped into the apartment undetected. Abayneh kept her private life to herself and rarely shared any personal details with other members of her family. Since Abayneh did not discuss her personal life, family members are perplexed. Who would want to kill her? Read more from My fox DC »
