(Feb 18, 2013, SALISBURY)--A man allegedly posed as a taxi driver,
picked up a woman waiting for a cab, took her to his apartment and then
threatened her, police said. Adene H.
Bekele, 24, of Salisbury faces charges of kidnapping and first- and
second-degree assault, plus related charges, according to court records.
The victim was unable to get into Brew River because she is underage, so she called a taxi and waited in the parking lot just after midnight Friday. “A lone male suspect approached (the victim) in a burgundy (four-door) sedan and asked her if she had called a cab.
(The victim) indicated in the affirmative and the male subject inquired as to where she was going,” charging documents state. The victim gave him $15 for the ride and told him her address, according to charging documents.
Bekele brought her to the area of her requested destination, near Salisbury University, but then kept driving against her wishes and brought her to his apartment on West Main Street, charging documents state. Read more from Delmarva now »
