Leaders, prominent personalities to honor farewell of PM Meles

(Aug 30, 2012, Addis Ababa)-- Leaders of various countries and prominent personalities would attend the funeral procession of the late Prime Minister Zenawi scheduled to be on September 2, 2012, the ministry of foreign Affairs said.

 In a joint press conference they gave here on Thursday the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dina Mufti and Public Diplomacy and Communication Director General with the ministry Getachew Reda said some 651 delegates have confirmed to be a part of the last farewell for the premier.

They said 19 heads of state and government, three Premiers and 27 ministers of various countries confirmed their presence.The officials said 18 heads of international organizations and prominent personalities including the US billionaire Bill Gates have confirmed to honor the farewell of the great leader PM Meles.

Former Nigerian Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Abdulsalami Abubakar and Former Ghanian President Jerry Rawlings would also attend the farewell, they said.The delegates are expected to arrive here as of Friday for the same purpose.
