Ethiopian man held for rape in ECape

(Mar 15, 2012, JOHANNESBURG)--An Ethiopian man has been arrested after he allegedly raped a woman in Butterworth, Eastern Cape police said on Tuesday. The 35-year-old was arrested on Monday night, Captain Jackson Manatha said.

He offered a lift to a 33-year-old woman before allegedly raping her around 8pm on Monday. "The man drove to his house, where he raped her in his car while threatening her with a knife."

She managed to run away, and told patrolling police what had happened. They found the man driving around the town. He was expected to appear in the Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Wednesday on a charge of rape.
