Singapore, Ethiopia Sign Air Services Pact

(SINGAPORE, Feb 14 (Bernama)--Singapore and Ethiopia have signed a new air services agreement today on the sidelines of the Singapore Airshow 2012.

The new agreement allows carriers from both nations to operate an agreed number of passenger and cargo flights between Singapore and Ethiopia, and beyond both countries.

Singapore's Minister of State for Finance and Transport Josephine Teo and Ethiopia's State Minister for Transport, Getachew Mengistie signed the pact.

"With this agreement, both Singapore and Ethiopian carriers will now be able to respond quickly to new market opportunities to launch passenger and cargo services, thus helping to further enhance the linkages between the two countries," Teo said

Singapore is linked to Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, through code-share arrangements between Singapore Airlines and fellow Star Alliance partner, Ethiopian Airlines.
