(17 January 2012, Iewy News)--The second stage of the conference titled “Collaborative Investing by the Ethiopian Diaspora in the U.S.” will take place in Northern California (Silicon Valley) on Saturday February 4 and a week later in Los Angeles.
The California conferences are continuations of the inaugural event recently held in Washington, D.C., which was attended by hundreds of participants.
These private sector led conferences are designed to discuss investment opportunities available to the very large and increasingly successfull Ethiopian Diaspora in the U.S., which in 2010, sent about $1.0 billion to their families and friends back home.
Keynote speech will be delivered by Zemedeneh Negatu, Ethiopian-American business executive, now working in Africa, followed by interactive discussions with the audience about the opportunities and investment vehicles the Diaspora can use to collaboratively invest in various sectors including real estate, agro-industry, mining, manufacturing, infrastructure, and the service industry.
The increasing importance of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Ethiopia’s economy, especially from China, India and Western countries, and how the Diaspora can benefit from it, will also be addressed.
