Ethiopian FM: We Want to Develop Security Ties with Sudan

(Dec 26, 2011, Sudan Vision Daily)--Khartoum-President of the Republic received, last Sunday, a verbal message from the Ethiopian Prime Minister, Meles Zenawi, conveyed by his Foreign Minister, Haile Mariam, on the developing relationship between Khartoum and Addis Ababa.

Al Bashir praised constant concern shown by Ethiopia to the Sudan in regional and international forums through the The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the African Union (AU) and through bilateral meetings of President Meles, adding that Ethiopia has been working diligently to unite the African position towards the other organizations, particularly the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Foreign Minister, Ali Karti said, in a statement following the meeting, that the two countries are undergoing the highest degrees of relations, pointing out that Al-Bashir received outcomes of the Political Committee meeting, pointing to the continued willingness of Ethiopia to provide support to Sudan in all international and regional forums, adding that Al-Bashir had insured on interconnection projects between the two countries.

For his part, the Ethiopian Foreign Minister described the relations between the two countries as developed, adding, "We want to develop this relationship to become integrated in all strategic areas, particularly security field.
