(8th December 2011, Ipp media)--In a move to improve its services the Ethiopian Airline has joined the global airline network, Star Alliance, the management has said.
A press statement issued by the company yesterday said joining in the network would make the airline stronger as it was before.
The statement said because of competition and unstable business environment, aviation industry sees unions and alliances formed between countries and huge business enterprises.

“Joining the alliance is advantageous to the Ethiopian airline, since it has many benefits,” it said.
“Some are access to market, since Star Alliance member airlines fly to more than 1210 destinations and that means they provide easier travel and quicker connection options making the travel experience smoother,” it further said.
Through Star Alliance, the Ethiopian will be able to access 21,410 daily flights in 189 countries. Thus, with Ethiopian joining Star Alliance more travellers from Ethiopia and across Africa will benefit from the Star Alliance’s world-wide reach via the extensive network,” the statement said. The statement said joining Star Alliance will increase the traffic volume and subsequently the revenue of member carriers.
Ethiopian will be part of the existing network the alliance covers which is: 4382 number of aircrafts, 409,152 employees, 652.24 million passengers transported per year, USD160.3bn sales revenue and 21,410 daily departures.
With the pre-arranged domestic flight discount packages for passengers arriving from international Star Alliance networks, Ethiopian will be able to increase the traffic flow to the country promoting the destination as a major tourist attraction, it said.
