Finland lauds Ethiopia’s role to ensure peace in Horn of Africa

(October 24, 2011, Addis Ababa, ENA)--Finland lauded the role played by Ethiopia to ensure peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.

The visiting Finnish International Development Cooperation Minister Heidi Hautala said Ethiopia is playing significant role in African Union and also regional organizations.

While conferring with Deputy PM and Foreign Affairs Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn here on Tuesday she commended the effort of the Ethiopian government to find peaceful solution for Somalia and Sudan case.
The minister said her government is assisting Ethiopia in the areas of water and sanitation as well as land administration.

Deputy PM Hailemariam on his part expressed gratitude for the Finnish government's support and its contribution to secure peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.

He said Ethiopia is keen to further enhance its relation and cooperation with Finland. Hailemariam said Ethiopia would support Finland in its effort to solicit vote for alternate membership for the UN Security Council for the year 2013-2014.

The two parties have also conferred as to how further enhance their relations and cooperation, according to an official from the ministry of foreign affairs.
