Ethiopian announces plan to become giant aviation company in 2025

(August 14, 2011 (Addis Ababa, ENA)--The Ethiopian Airlines announced plan to become a giant aviation company in Africa in the year 2025 in all aspects including in the quality of its services as well as number of its aircrafts and passengers .

In an exclusive interview with ENA, Ethiopian CEO Tewolde Gebremariam said Ethiopian is striving to achieve the same goal within the coming 14 years. Tewolde said Ethiopian's annual income has reached 1.6 billion USD at present.

Ethiopian aims to reach 10 billion USD in annual revenues and its net profit estimated to reach one billion USD, the CEO said.

Annual number of Ethiopian's passengers has reached over three million, he said, adding, during the past five to six years it has shown a three fold growth in the number of passengers.

Ethiopian is a 3-Star Airline at present and activities are underway to enable it reach the standard of a 4-Star Airline during the coming two years, he said. In 2025 Ethiopian's market share will increase by ten fold in Africa , the CEO said.

He said Ethiopian is undertaking activities enabling it to achieve its plan. Ethiopian is being reorganized in a new form. It will have 70 modern and fuel saving aircrafts, Tewolde said.
