(July 11, 2011, Addis Ababa, (Biruk Worku)- Ethiopia and South Korea have agreed to cooperate in agriculture, mining and technology development. Korea-Ethiopia Development Experience Sharing Forum was held in Addis Ababa on Sunday.
The experience sharing forum was attended by Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and South Korean President Lee Myung Bak as well as ministers of both countries. Prime Minister Meles briefed the Korean delegation on the pillars and modalities of application of Ethiopia's five year Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP).

Prime Minister Meles briefed the Korean delegation on the pillars and modalities of application of Ethiopia's five year Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP).
The economic plan draws best experiences from tiger economies like South Korea. Mr. Lee said after the briefings that the economic plan is similar to the development plans of South Korea during the 1970's.
South Korea designs five year economic plans and is now implementing its 14th development plan. Mr. Lee stressed on the importance of setting goals and plans to bring social development.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Hailemariam Desalegn told the press that South Korea promised to support planning and development research institutions of Ethiopia in addition to the 100 million US Dollars aid they pledged.
According to Hailemariam, the Asian tiger economy also vowed to back the agriculture and mining sectors of Ethiopia. He said emulating South Korea's best experiences in technology transfer and skill building is crucial besides the financial pledge.
Following the discussions Meles and Mr. Lee along with their wives took time to attend Ethiopian coffee ceremony and cultural dances of Ethiopian nations and nationalities. UP on successfully concluding his three day visit, the South Korean President returned home later on Sunday.
UP on departure at Bole International Airport, the President was seen off by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Hailemariam Desalegn.
