With a time of 2h 23'31 ", the young Ethiopian (23 years) had the best performance ever made by a woman during a marathon in California;
The former record was set during the Olympic Games in Los Angeles (1984 ) by American Joan Benoit. As for Terfas Negari, he opened his series of victory after seven consecutive marathons during which, in three times, he had to make do with the third position.
