Dubai Chamber to explore opportunities in Ethiopia

(June 13, 2011, DUBAI)- Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with the Ethiopian Consulate is organising Ethiopia 2011, the third Country Focus Briefing of the year, at the Chamber premises on June 23.

The briefing will be presided over by Hamad Buamim, Director General, Dubai Chamber, with high profile guests including Mekonen Manyazewal, Ethiopian Minister of Industry and Eyesuswork Zafu, President of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce.

With its aim of providing access while enhancing the competitiveness of the Chamber members in emerging markets, the briefing will explore new trade links with Ethiopia which is forecasted to be one of the fastest growing economies in the world over the next five years.

Being attended by leading businessmen and investors from Dubai and Ethiopia, the meeting will have a presentation by Zemedeneh Negatu, Managing Partner, Ernst & Young Ethiopia, dealing with the topic of ‘Why Ethiopia Now?’

Also, a Dubai Chamber case study and another one on IFFCO Group by its Africa Head, Anurag Sen, will be followed by an interactive question and answer session at the conclusion of the briefing.

Launched last year, the Dubai Chamber initiative of the Country Focus Briefing is organised in association with embassies, consulates, business councils, trade centres and representative offices of target countries. 

The main objective of the briefing is to introduce business opportunities in one chosen market to Dubai’s business community so as to empower them to explore emerging export destinations, develop relationships with relevant trade bodies as well as enhance their competitiveness in the global business arena.

So far, the initiative has brought into focus new markets like Chile, Switzerland, Japan, Turkey and Brazil.
