STOCKHOLM, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Shumi Gerbada of Ethiopia Saturday won the the Stockholm Marathon with two hours, 14 minutes and seven seconds.
Gerbada passed Dominic Pius Ondoro of Kenya and was ahead of other players until the last five kilometers. Ondoro ended second in 2:14:23.
Sweden's Isabellah Andersson won the women's title for the fourth consecutive year in 2:37:28.
Eri Okubo from Japan finished second in 2:38:58.
Over 16,000 runners participated in the 33rd marathon in Stockholm in a cloudy day even though more than 20,000 people from 80 countries registered.
Even so, the city has been filled with a festive atmosphere with crowded people cheering on the road.
