(25 May 2011, Addis Ababa)-Ethiopia and Finland signed on Wednesday a grant agreement amounting to 261 million Birr.
As per the agreement, the grant would be used for execution of potable water and sanitation projects in Gambella, Amhara, Oromia, Tigray, and South Ethiopia Peoples’ states.
Speaking on the occasion, state Minister of Finance and Economic Development (MoFED), Ahmed Shide said the grant would boost up potable water supply in the country.
This in turn would help ongoing national endeavor to accomplish the five-year Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP), he said.
Finnish ambassador to Ethiopia, who is also the country’s Permanent Representative to the African Union, Mr. Leo Olasvirta for his part expressed his governments continued commitment to working closely with Ethiopia particularly in the areas of education and environmental protection.
