25 Ethiopians to get training in Turkey

worldbulletin, April 12, 2011 Turkish State Minister for foreign trade Zafer Caglayan had a meeting with Ethiopia's Minister of Federal Affairs Shiferaw Tekle-Mariam in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Monday.

Caglayan said that they would give education on foreign trade consultancy services to people working in relevant ministries in African countries, stating that 25 people from Ethiopia would first get training in Turkey and all expenses would be provided by Turkey.

Recalling that he accompanied by a delegation of 100 businesspeople visited Ethiopia nearly two months ago, Caglayan said that they attached a great importance to cooperation between Turkey and Ethiopia.

Turkey's trade with African countries had been 5.4 billion U.S. dollars in 2003 and the figure increased to 17 billion U.S. dollars in 2008, he said. Caglayan said that they expected that it would rise to 20 billion U.S. dollars this year.

Tekle-Mariam said that there were several opportunities in Ethiopia for investors especially in the areas of agriculture, textile, construction, tourism and energy.

Tekle-Mariam said that they started to construct Grand Millennium Dam on the Nile River that will generate 5,250 megawatts of electricity.
