An Iranian expatriate in Kuwait used a knife to rape an Ethiopian housemaid before fleeing, prompting a massive police manhunt, newspapers in the Gulf emirate reported on Monday.
The Kuwaiti employer of the maid rushed out after hearing her wailing before she returned home from the shop, the paper said.
The maid told him she tried in vain to resist the rapist as he threatened to slit her throat with a big knife before raping her in a deserted area in Kuwait City, the paper said.
Police said they had mounted a big manhunt for the Iranian based on descriptions provided by the maid.
