(Feb 09, 2014, (Telegraph.co.uk))--Martin Fletcher visits Ethiopia's Wildlife Authority to look at their stockpile of ilegal ivory. Ethiopia's six tonne stockpile of ivory equates to the death of more than 600 elephants.
However, the country's hoard is one of the smaller national stockpiles. Around the world more than 500 tonnes of poached ivory is held in stockpiles, or the equivalent of more than 50,000 elephants.
Southern African states with large elephant populations favour selling their stock piles to generate funds for conservation, most of the rest of Africa say that this stimulates demand and sends a message that buying ivory is ok.
