Yemane travelled from Ethiopia to take part in the relay having been sponsored by the London 2012 International Inspiration programme. He was last spotted at the Jurys Inn, at Waterfront Plaza, Nottingham after leaving at around 9.15pm. A police spokeswoman said: "We are concerned for Natnael as he does not speak very good English and is not thought to be streetwise. He does have family in London, but we need to find him and make sure he is safe and well."

Described as black, 5ft 8ins tall, and of thin build, Yemane was last seen wearing faded dark jeans, a green and yellow camouflage hooded jacket and black trainers with a white stripe. A London 2012 spokesperson said: "A young boy of 15 has gone missing and clearly this is of great concern to us. Everyone is doing all they can to find him and make sure he's safe."

She added: "Each one of the 20 young people was accompanied by their own chaperone and every possible step was taken to ensure their whereabouts were known at all times whilst they were in the country."
The International Inspiration programme was set up by Locog to fulfil promises made by bid organisers to "reach young people all around the world and connect them to the inspirational power of the Games so they are inspired to choose sport".

On the programme website it says: "Around 113,000 teachers, coaches and young leaders have been trained to lead sport, physical education and play in their schools and communities, learning new skills."Police urged anyone with any information to contact them on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
