(Nov 23, 2011 The Korea Times)--Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi will visit Korea next week on the occasion of a three-day global gathering on aid effectiveness in Busan which will start from Tuesday.
In a press release, Cheong Wa Dae said Wednesday that President Lee Myung-bak will hold a summit with Meles on Nov. 28 before the Ethiopian leader heads to the southern port city.
The two leaders are expected to exchange ideas on a wide range of areas including development assistance, trade and education. Meles’ trip comes four months after his acceptance of Lee’s offer to visit the country for the 4th High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness during a summit held in Addis Ababa in July.
During the four-day trip to Korea, the Ethiopian prime minister will attend an investment forum to be held in Seoul and then join a luncheon with Korean business leaders slated for Monday.
He will leave for Busan Wednesday for the global aid forum where nearly 2,500 global guests will share their views and experiences to improve aid effectiveness.
Distinguished guests to visit the city during the global event include U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Civic group activists, international NGOs, leaders of international institutions will also join the aid forum. Meles will head back to Ethiopia Thursday after wrapping up his schedule at the global forum.
