Beka-Abo power project contributes to meet local power demand

(September 6, 2011, Addis Ababa, ENA)--The Beka-Abo multipurpose power project will significantly contribute to meet the local demand for power through generating 2100 MW power, Water and Energy State Minister Wondimu Tekle said.

Speaking at a relevant workshop here on Tuesday, Wondimu said the project will significantly contribute in the efforts satisfy the growing demand for energy.

Wondimu said the project will also help to reduce silt and flood in lower riparian countries, Egypt and Sudan.

Norway provided 285 million Birr to support feasibility studies for Beka Abo project, which is being constructed along the Bure-Nekemt Road.
