(Jul 14, 2011, Lille, France)--Ethiopian athlete Teshome Dirirsa won gold in the 1,500m meters on Tuesday at the ongoing IAAF World Youth Championship in Lille, France.
Dirirsa finished with a personal best time of 3:39:13 ahead of Kenyan Vincent Mutai who clocked 3:39:54. Fellow Kenyan Jonathan Kiplimo finished third.
It is Ethiopia’s fifth medal after Gotytom Gebreselassie (Women’s 3,000m) – Gold, Senbere Teferri (Women’s 1,500m), Mohammed Aman (Men’s 800m) – both Silver and Genet Tibieso (Women’s 1,500m) – Bronze.
