(17 June 2011, JEDDAH)--An Ethiopian man who was arrested Wednesday for stabbing his wife to death told officers that he did it because she “gave him the HIV virus”.
Information was received that the suspect had fled in the direction of Taif and police in the area soon identified the man and stopped him. “Yes, I killed her. And if she came back to life I’d kill her again because she gave me AIDS,” he is reported as telling officers.
A police spokesman said the case had been passed on to the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution.
A manhunt was launched earlier in the day when the body of the woman was found in a street in the Kilo 8 district in south Jeddah. Traces of blood were followed back to the house where the couple lived and officials immediately set about trying to locate the whereabouts of the victim’s husband.
