(KOLKATA, May 06, 2011)- An Ethiopian Airlines flight from Delhi to Hangzhou landed here around 2.10pm on Thursday after Myanmar denied permission to enter its airspace.
The 41 passengers on board were still stranded inside the plane when reports last came in.
Sources said flight ET 688 landed in Delhi airport from Addis Ababa around 8.50am. It then took off for Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang province in eastern China at 9.50am.

After crossing Kolkata airspace , it approached Yangon for permission to fly over to China. The latter refused as the airline had not sought prior approval.
Stranded mid-air , the pilot had no other option but to head back. Kolkata airport being a closer option , he sought permission from Kolkata air traffic control to land. Officials hoped the matter would be sorted out soon.
