(May 23, 2011, SHARJAH, UAE)- Sharjah Police is currently investigating the death of an Ethiopian housemaid in her twenties, who reportedly committed suicide by jumping from the fifth floor of a residential building in Al Qasimiya area on Saturday.
According to a police official, “The Al Gharb Police Station was notified about the death of the housemaid and immediately rushed to the accident site to investigate the case and find out the reason why the young maid committed suicide.”
“On arrival, we found the woman in a pool of blood and already dead,” he added.
The deceased’s body was taken to the forensic laboratory to conduct tests to ensure that she died because of her fall or whether foul play was involved.
Members of the family she was working for were also interrogated to find out more details about what could have motivated her to commit suicide.
During interrogations with the family, they said that the maid had been cleaning at the time of the incident.
According to them, she could have probably fallen down while cleaning the balcony.
“They also confirmed that she seemed fine and did not suffer from any problems with any of the family members,” the official added.
