Ethiopian commends U.S. anti-terrorists operatives

(May 03, 2011, Addis Ababa)- Ethiopian Government on Monday commended all parties involved in the operation that led to the killing of Osama Bin Laden, the leader of the Al-qaeda terrorists group.

This was contained in a statement issued in Addis Ababa from the Government Communication Affairs Office.

The statement commended the U.S. anti-terrorists operatives for hunting and killing Bin Laden.

“The Ethiopian government salutes all parties involved in this operation,’’ it said.

The statement said that as a victim of repeated terrorist attacks, Ethiopia felt and shared the agony and suffering of nations that lost their citizens to senseless terrorist attacks.

“Although the death of Bin-Laden does not mean an end to the anti-terrorists struggle, it is nonetheless a big victory for the global anti-terrorists forces.

“On this happy occasion, we congratulate the entire people of America and the U.S. government,’’ it stated.

The statement said that in Ethiopia’s immediate vicinity, Bin Laden’s Al-Qaeda had wrecked havoc on Somalia, killed and maimed innocent people in Kenya and Tanzania.

“For years the organisation has been engaged in terrorist activities aimed at destabilising the Horn of Africa.

“We salute all parties in this operation after 10 years of long search,’’ it added.

NAN reports that Bin laden was killed by U.S. forces in an early morning operation on Monday in Pakistan. (NAN)
