United Nations Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon has appointed Sahle-Work Zewde of Ethiopia as the director general in the newly created United Nations Office in Nairobi .
Mrs Zewde is currently the Special Representative and head of the United Nations Integrated Peace Building Office in the Central African Republic.
Prior to this, she was a Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa . She has also served as a director general for African affairs in her country’s Foreign Affairs docket, posts she held since 2006.
Zewde, a science graduate from the University of Montpellier, has also served as an Ambassador to France and Djibouti, and a Permanent Representative to the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation accredited to Tunisia and Morocco
